I have a son and a daughter.
Grew up in Montgomery county MD and graduated from Wheaton high school 1960. Got my ham radio license in 1957 (KN3AAF).
1960 Started working for Vitro Electronics building power transformers.
1961 Worked for Defense Electronics Inc, first in shipping/receiving dept. and then in the test dept.
1965 Went to work for Hewlett Packard, first on the bench and then in field service fixing computers and data acquisition systems.
In 1975 I wanted to be an engineer so I found a job at Microdyne Corp (Rockville, MD) in the test dept. with a promise to transfer me to the engineering dept when there was an opening. In 1979 there was an opening and I was transferred to engineering where I spent 20 years doing RF design work. The last 5 years were on the senior/project level. All without a college degree. They moved to Ocala FL in 1980 and laid me off 1999.
Contract Systems Engineer at Raytheon in St. Petersburg, FL July 2000 thru Oct 2001 working on a software operated VHF/UHF transceiver used in the B2B bomber, and other military aircraft. A Secret clearance was required and acquired.
Contract Electronics Engineer at Baxter Healthcare in Pinellas Park, FL April 2002 to June 2002. Tasked to finish up the design on a new Hemo Dialysis machine.
My very last job before retiring June 2006 was at DRS-SSS in Largo FL. They build RADAR’s for the NAVY and other military branches. I was a senior tech for the SPS-67 a 300 mega-watt unit on 5.5 Ghz band
I enjoy the adventure of the great outdoors, traveling and seeing all that nature has to offer, SCUBA diving, fly fishing, sailing, camping and hiking. I've been licensed pilot since 1975. I enjoy playing my violin, and my guitar. I like Classical music the best followed by easy listening rock, country, and Jazz, etc. I'm in the Anona United Methodist Church orchestra, Pinellas Community orchestra and occasionally the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra.
I have GROL w/radar license, GMDSS maintainer license, SCUBA certified, and single engine aircraft pilots license, and welding certificate. I also have Universal EPA air conditioning tech 608 certificate.
