I married a Texan in 1965 and after he completed his army service at Ft. Belvoir, we moved to Texas. He was a petroleum geologist with Texaco. We moved several times over the years, mostly in Texas but we did live for 10 1/2 years in Slidell, LA (north of New Orleans). We moved back to Texas in 1994 after Cliff retired and "went rural" I just love living away from large groups of people. We raise sheep and chickens. I was a public library manager in Louisiana and "retired" when we moved to the country but got lured back to the small local school first as a volunteer and then a full time employee. I seem to be busier every year but enjoy most every minute.
We raised three children, Rachel, Kurt, and Kyle. Our daughter is going back to school following her divorce and is studying to be an accountant which her mother tried to talk her into 10 years ago. Oh well. Kurt is in the Navy on Sea Duty and will be off to the Gulf next February. That will be hard especially after the happenings with the USS Cole. Our son, Kyle, died suddenly in April, 1999 of a heart related problem that could not have been detected or treated according to all experts that we have consulted. We have 3 wonderful grandchildren that are of course the most beautiful and smart of any!!
Our latest adventure involves my Mom who has moved to nearby Waco into a Retirement Center. She has just moved and we will see how this works. No one in my family lived near her and she decided that she needed to be near one of us. I always used to go up in the summer to visit her and other friends up there but am unsure what I will do this next summer, only time will tell.
I would love to hear from anyone.
